In this class, Jenna Roberts guides dancers through a comprehensive warm-up designed to prepare the feet, legs, and core for dynamic allegro work with precision and control. The session begins by activating intrinsic foot muscles, calves, hamstrings, and the core to build a strong, stable foundation essential for ballet footwork.

Using targeted exercises like Foot, Calf, Hamstring & Core, dancers strengthen and flex the feet and lower legs with the help of resistance bands and a fit ball, enhancing power and fluidity. Then, Cambré Ball Dynamic focuses on improving dynamic mobility and control of the torso, while also developing awareness in weight transfer. The use of the ball encourages fluid spinal articulation and challenges dancers to maintain coordination as the body moves through space.

The Controlled Push-off focuses on safe knee mechanics by reinforcing key muscles such as the hamstrings, gracilis, and sartorius, promoting precise and protected jeté execution while maintaining square hips.

Throughout, the emphasis is on muscular control, alignment, and smooth transitions to support strength and finesse in allegro technique.

Tips:

Cue consistent alignment of the feet and hips during all exercises to maintain technique integrity.

Encourage activation of the foot arch while avoiding toe curling.

Reinforce pelvic stability and square hips, especially during push-off movements.

Promote deep hip rotator engagement over unnecessary glute squeezing to enhance jump quality.

Use clear imagery and tactile cues to help dancers connect with correct muscle activation.
