Class 5 is all about enhancing shoulder stability, upper body control, positioning your arms just right, and connecting dynamic movements. It also gets students ready for pirouettes, works on their allegro skills, and wraps things up with a core activation and stretching session. The video runs for 32 minutes, but we recommend setting aside 40 to 50 minutes so students can repeat exercises if needed. Make sure your students go through Class 4 at least twice before stepping up to Class 5.
We kick things off in Class 5 with "Shoulder Stability." This exercise is fantastic for connecting shoulder movements to the trunk and spine dynamically, allowing dancers to maintain proper alignment without feeling tense. Next, we continue to "Épaulement Enhancement." This encourages the same shoulder stability while allowing the body to move freely in all directions. Then, we introduce "Preparation for Pirouettes," focusing on upper body stability and keeping the arms in the right shape to balance during spins.
Moving on, the class dives into allegro training with "Allegro Enchaînement." Here, students activate the glutes, calves, and intrinsic muscles, while ensuring the pelvis stays aligned for maximum power in their jumps. As the class progresses, we bring in the "Beginner Curl and Pike" to engage the core fully when students are already active. Finally, we end with a "Final Stretch," targeting the Achilles tendons and hamstrings to stretch and release any remaining tension.
