Resistance Band (medium strength)

Resistance Band (medium strength)

During this exercise the students will be working on building strength in the lower leg in both parallel and external rotation.

Starting Position: Have the students place the centre of the resistance band along the sole of the foot in a vertical line, covering its full length. Hold one end of the band in each hand. Lie down and lift the working leg, flexing that foot while pointing the other. Keep both legs in parallel.

Steps:

  1. The students will perform a plié and extend the leg, pointing the foot.
  2. Repeat 6 times.
  3. They will then flex the foot and gently pull the leg toward the body.
  4. Return to the starting position, turn out the legs, and repeat the sequence in external rotation.
  5. Repeat the full sequence in both parallel and turnout at a faster pace.
