This is a great exercise to get the students focusing on turnout while also building strength and power in the legs.


Starting Position: The student will place the resistance band over both thighs and then wrap the band around the top of the thigh on each leg and the band will come between the legs. They will hold on to each end of the band and place the hands on the hips, The legs are straight up towards the ceiling externally rotated.


Steps:

  1. The student will plié and stretch 4 times.
  2. They will then open and close the legs, feet are flexed as they come together. 4 times.
  3. Have the student bring the knees together, then create a diamond shape, open back out to second then join together. 4 times.
  4. The student will repeat the whole exercise from the beginning.
  5. They will hug their knees to finish.
