This exercise progressively strengthens the ankles, enhancing stability and safety in pointe work. This exercise, structured in three stages, is essential for developing the resilience required for dynamic movements on pointe.

Preparation:

Ensure students start with correct posture, right foot devant in relevé, with emphasis on proper alignment and engagement of the core and leg muscles.

Steps:

1. Stage one: With both hands on the barre, students should focus on maintaining balance and control in relevé, followed by 2 sous-sus sur la pointe.

2. Stage two: Transition to one hand on the barre, rehearsing the same sequence, which adds a layer of challenge in maintaining stability.

3. Stage three: Have students perform the sequence in the centre, without barre support, to test and improve balance and strength.

4. Include sissonne ordinaire devant en pointe and soubresaut sur la pointe, ensuring precision and control.

5. Conclude with coupé and have students extend their right leg into a low devant, followed by 4 hops en pointe effacé devant, petit pas de bourrée piqué dessus sur la pointe, holding the position before a controlled demi plié sur la pointe.

6. Have students repeat on the alternate side to ensure balanced development.

Focus:

Stress the importance of correct foot alignment during hops and transitions to prevent injury. Monitor ankle stability and correct form throughout.
