Fusion Ball

Fusion Ball

This exercise focuses on enhancing pelvic stability, the foundation for precise and graceful port de bras in ballet. This exercise helps the dancers to maintain and improve balance, alignment, control and aesthetics in movements.

Preparation: Ensure that the dancers are familiar with the importance of pelvic stability. Begin in a standing position with the legs externally rotated.

Steps:

1. Instruct dancers to hold a fusion ball between upper thighs, emphasising a relaxed gluteus maximus.

2. Have students lower their arms one at a time, opening them to 4th position while maintaining a stable pelvis and torso alignment.

3. As they cambré, have them turn palms down, keeping hips and shoulders still.

4. Return to the starting position, adding a gentle port de bras.

5. Repeat the sequence on the other side.

6. Have students lift their right arm to 4th, then circle it in port de bras, transitioning into arabesque épaulement. Repeat with the left arm.

7. Instruct students to let their arms fall to the side as they inhale, returning to the start.

Focus: Stress the importance of pelvic stability for injury prevention and aesthetic line. Ensure dancers maintain proper posture throughout.
