Fusion Ball

Fusion Ball

This is a lovely exercise to help the students build strength through the supporting side while also working in to the hip mobility.

Starting Position: Have the students place the fusion ball under the working foot and lie on the back with palms facing up. Optionally turn the palms down for more balance.

Steps:

  1. In the introduction, lift the hips into a bridge.
  2. They will open the working knee to the side and extend the leg.
  3. Have the student rotate to parallel and return to the starting position.
  4. Repeat this sequence 4 times.
  5. Repeat the same sequence in reverse, 4 times.
  6. They will then ripple down through the spine.
  7. Have the student grab the ball and extend the working leg in turnout, reaching the arms to the ceiling holding the ball.
  8. They will then lower the leg and arms together, elongating towards the floor.
  9. Have the student return, bringing the leg back as in a grand battement.
  10. Repeat 4 times.
  11. They will then lower down, and repeat the full sequence on the other side.
  12. The student will then lift the hips into a bridge and place the ball under the tailbone.
  13. They will then extend both legs and lower the arms to the mat, palms facing up.
  14. The student will then bring the working knee to the chest and hug it.
  15. Return and repeat on the other side.
  16. Have the student bring the right knee to the chest, rotate the leg outward and lower.
  17. Repeat on the other side.
  18. They will then bring the feet in, remove the ball, lower the pelvis and relax to finish.
