Fusion Ball

This exercise helps to develop shoulder mobility and stability, which is essential in ballet training. It's designed to balance the flexibility and stability in the shoulders, preventing imbalances that could affect a dancer's performance.

Preparation: Ensure students have mastered Level One of the Senior level. Use a ¾ inflated fusion ball placed under the ribcage.

Steps:

1. Students begin face down, legs in first position, spine elongated, arms by their sides.

2. Instruct students to lengthen their arms, reaching their hands underneath their forehead, with the elbows wide.

3. Have them twist their torso to the right, maintaining arm placement.

4. Return to centre, then twist to the left.

5. Transition arms to 5th position, keeping upper arms internally rotated, lower arms externally rotated.

6. Move arms into 2nd position, maintaining rotation.

7. Return to the starting position and repeat the exercise.

8. Conclude by having the students relax in child’s pose.

Focus:

Encourage students to maintain a long spine with controlled arm movements. Focus on keeping weight evenly distributed during twists.
