Resistance Band (medium strength)

Resistance Band (medium strength)

This is a really lovely exercise for getting the students to stretch through the hip flexor and in to the hamstring.


Starting Position: Have the students kneel with the centre of the resistance band on the mat in front of the body. Step onto the band with one foot and hold one end in each hand.


Steps:

  1. Have the students reach the pelvis forward while extending the arms overhead and opening the chest.
  2. They will return by lowering the pelvis towards the supporting foot, extend the front leg with a flexed foot, fold the body over the leg and extend the arms back and down.
  3. Repeat the sequence 3 times.
  4. They will return to the starting position and swap feet to repeat on the opposite side.
