Resistance Band (medium strength)

Resistance Band (medium strength)

This dynamic exercise will get your students working the hip mobility, building strength in the core and also a lovely hamstring and adductor stretch.

Starting Position: The student will start by placing their foot on the resistance band and crossing it at the front, then at the back of the calf, and again at the front of the shin. They will then hold the end of the band in each hand and lie down on the floor with the wrapped leg crossed on top in a 5th position.

Steps:

  1. The student will float the top leg up towards the ceiling in a turned out position.
  2. They will then circle the leg across the body then reverse the circle.
  3. Have the student then fondu with a flexed foot and straighten the leg.
  4. They will pull the leg towards them in a stretch.
  5. Repeat the sequence from the beginning.
  6. The student will perform the whole exercise from the beginning but will open out to 2nd position for the stretch.
  7. To finish the student will come back to the starting position.
  8. Repeat on the other side.
