Resistance Band (medium strength)

Resistance Band (medium strength)

This is a lovely exercise to get the students articulating through the spine and working into the deep rotation of the back.

Starting Position: The students will take the resistance band and place it just under their shoulder blades, they will then cross the band at the front, holding it in each hand and come to a 4 point kneeling position.

Steps:

  1. The students will perform cat/cow 4 times.
  2. They will then extend right arm forward and left leg back.
  3. Have the students bring the elbow and knee towards each other, rounding the back. 4 times through.
  4. They will then lower the back leg with the toes curled under.
  5. Have the students do 5 big circular port de bras.
  6. They will then repeat the whole exercise from the beginning.
  7. The students will extend the left leg out to the side and open the right arm up to the ceiling.
  8. They will alternate sides, repeating this 4 times.
  9. The students will finish in a wide child's pose.
