Exercise Ball / Fit Ball

The students will build strength, flexibility and stability during this exercise. It is a great exercise for the students to find balance and coordination through the port de bras and finding the supporting leg.

Starting Position: Have the students place the ball in front of the body and bring the working leg into attitude devant on top of it, with the heel lifted.

Steps:

  1. The students will bring the arms through first to second position.
  2. They will then perform a fondu, bringing the arms to first.
  3. Have the student extend, while bringing arms to fifth position, and rise. Lower.
  4. Repeat 3 times.
  5. They will then flex the foot and lean the torso over the leg, bending the supporting knee.
  6. Have the student point the foot and return upright to adjust for the opposite side.
  7. They will then step the legs wide, place the hands on the ball, and roll forward to finish in a downward dog position.
