This exercise enriches students' développé devant technique. It emphasises the engagement of the hip flexors, quadriceps, hamstrings, gluteal muscles, abdominals, adductors, and calf muscles. Adding the fit ball challenges students to maintain stability and control as they move through the leg extension.


Preparation: Have students lie on a mat with one leg crossed at the calves on the centre of the fit ball, positioned near the groin.


Steps:

1. Guide them through externally rotating both legs in demi plié, transitioning into a bridge, and then into retire.

2.They internally rotate the working leg and return to the external position, while maintaining the hip alignment.

3. Next, they développé devant, ensuring students maintain rotation and alignment.

4. Repeat the internal and external rotation with the legs extended.

5. Lower the leg into fifth position before transitioning out of the bridge.

6. Change the legs and repeat on the alternate side.


Focus: Emphasise hip alignment towards the ceiling and the importance of smooth transitions and rotations.
