Resistance Band (medium strength)

This exercise is perfect for building a solid foundation in adage. The student will be focusing on the supporting side and maintaining pelvic stability. The Resistance Band will give great feedback and will help work the turnout.


Starting Position: The student will begin by wrapping the band around the foot and holding each end. Stretch one leg down the mat, pointed and the wrapped leg is crossed in a 5th position with the foot flexed. The student will then lie all the way down onto the floor.


Steps:

  1. The student will développé the leg up towards the ceiling.
  2. Using the resistance of the band the student will open the leg out to a 2nd position.
  3. The student will then close the leg back into 5th position.
  4. Repeat this 2 times.
  5. The student will the reverse this, staring with opening to a 2nd position.
  6. The student will the envéloppé the leg back down.
  7. Repeat this 2 times.
  8. The student will finish with both legs parallel stretched down along the floor with the feet flexed.
