Resistance Band (medium strength)

Resistance Band (medium strength)

This is a really great exercise for building strength in the ankle area, it is so import for our students to work this area correctly, especially if they are starting pointe work.

Starting Position: The student will place the resistance band around one foot and cross the band over in to each hand. They will be in a seated position with the legs stretched forward and the wrapped foot crossed on top of the other foot.

Steps:

  1. The student will keep the foot flexed and open it out just from the ankle and then take it across to the other side.
  2. They will repeat this 4 times.
  3. Have the student then pulse the foot out for 6 counts.
  4. Repeat the pulses, this time pulsing in.
  5. To finish they will uncross the foot and relax the arms.
  6. Repeat on the other foot.
