This exercise is vital for training temps levé correctly, focusing on strengthening leg, foot, and core muscles. It enhances stability, alignment, and muscular control, essential for all ballet dancers.


Preparation: Students should start at the barre, placing the right leg on the fit ball in à la seconde. Double-check their turnout and hip placement and make sure they aren't leaning on the fit ball.


Steps:

1. Instruct students to move their arms from first to second position while performing a fondu (plié) with the supporting leg.

2. Guide them to relevé onto their toes, maintaining balance.

3. Follow this with a fondu and temps levé, synchronised with the music. Repeat twice more steps 2 - 3.

4. Have them a pivot (promenade) to face the barre, followed by another fondu.

5. Repeat facing the barre in derrière, then have them pivot back to face front.

6. Repeat the sequence on the other side.


Focus: Emphasise proper leg alignment, core stability, and controlled movement throughout.
