Resistance Band (medium strength)

The students will be targeting the obliques and spinal rotation in this exercise. Building the strength in the obliques will help support the torso for pirouettes.


Starting Position: The student will take the resistance band in each hand and stand hip width apart on the band, in a parallel position. The arms are stretched out to the sides.


Steps:

  1. The student will rotate the spine to one side.
  2. Have the student lengthen forward with a flat back.
  3. They will then stand up tall, then return back to the centre.
  4. Have the student rise up twice, staying parallel.
  5. Repeat on the other side.
  6. The student will repeat the exercise from the beginning.
