Fusion Ball

Fusion Ball

This exercise is designed to improve dancers ability to maintain posture and stay balanced. It is particularly effective in teaching young dancers to control their upper body and improve their core stability, essential for ballet technique.

Preparation: Ask the student to sit on the fusion ball. Have the student work on finding the correct balance posture on the ball. This will help them naturally straighten their back and pelvis. Option for the student to use a scarf in each hand.

Steps:

1. Once balanced, start with some simple port de bras and leg extensions.

2. The right arm is raised sideways. Then lowered in a fluid wave like motion.

3. Repeat the movement with the left arm.

4. Guide both arms inward in a big circle motion without any tension, twice.

5. Extend the leg forward in alignment with long toes.

6. Repeat the sequence starting with the opposite side.

Key Focus Area:

Remind students to lengthen their spine and keep their pelvis in a neutral position throughout the exercise.
