Fusion Ball

This warm up exercise is designed to activate and prepare the spine and neck for ballet class as well as help develop fluidity and coordination. One main objective of the exercise is to improve the body’s sense of movement (proprioception) and alignment.

Preparation: The student starts by sitting on their heels in a child's pose position on their mat. Placing the fusion ball in front of them with their hands on top.

Steps:

1. Students roll the ball to the right using their fingertips, extending without twisting their shoulders and then return the ball back to the front.

2. They repeat the movement to the left side.

3. Transition into a kneeling position, as they stretch their spine upward

4. Extend their right leg to the side, pushing the fusion ball towards the foot and coordinating a port de bras de côté with the left arm.

5. They return smoothly to the starting position and repeat on the opposite side, following with the right arm.

6. Repeat from the beginning on the opposite side.

Focus:

1. Ensure students maintain a steady, elongated spine and neck relaxed throughout.

2. Pay attention to the fluidity of the arm movements.
