Pointe Class 2, guided by Stephanie Petersen, is a full, advanced-level session designed to develop the control, power, and precision needed for high-level pointe work.

The class begins at the barre with a focus on foot strength, balance, dynamic control, and weight transfer—essential tools for stability and technical clarity. The centre work explores steps drawn from classical variations including: hops sur la pointe, piqué en manège, fouettés en tournant, and fouettés.

This class supports dancers in deepening their connection to the floor, refining their transitions, and strengthening their endurance and artistry en pointe.

While these classes offer specific pointe conditioning, they are most effective when paired with consistent ballet training and complementary work like PBT technique classes, as these classes provide the strength, and knowledge needed to progress safely and artistically.

Tips

From the very first barre exercise, guide students to focus on correct foot alignment during both the rise and descent of relevé, avoiding pronation and maintaining full contact with the floor.

Encourage regular checks of pelvic and leg alignment, as even minor shifts in the hips or knees can affect foot placement and control.

In weight transfer exercises at the barre, promote movement that is dynamic yet stable, reinforcing awareness and control that will translate to centre work.

Feel free to adjust the musical tempo in dynamic combinations, progressing gradually to help students refine clarity and coordination at different speeds.
