Welcome to the second class in the Junior Band Class series, where we continue to explore proprioception and body awareness. This 20-minute session, guided by the fantastic Melissa McCabe, is designed for a total of 25-30 minutes to ensure students have enough time for repetition and refinement.
We begin with Back to Basics, which focuses on the correct use of turnout to improve alignment and stability. This exercise helps students build a strong foundation for healthy foot and knee alignment while enhancing overall ballet technique.
Next, Frappé & Petit Battement works on stabilizing the thighs, enabling free and controlled movement of the knee. This exercise enhances the precision and sharpness of these essential movements, allowing students to achieve greater control in their frappé and petit battements.
Retiré with Bands is next, refining the turnout. It helps students maintain proper alignment while ensuring graceful and fluid leg movements, which are key for clean, precise positions.
We conclude with Torso Strength, which targets the back muscles to improve fluid arm movements and enhance overall body control. This exercise helps students maintain a smooth port de bras and better control of their upper body during all movements.
