Like previous classes, it is important for students to be secure in class 4 before attempting this class. The runtime of the video is 39 minutes but recommend allocating at least 45 minutes for the class to allow you to stop and repeat exercises.
This well-balanced Class Plan 5 commences with a beautiful warm-up exercise called 'Flow Warm-Up', preparing the students' bodies and minds fully for the exercises that follow.
’Coordination and Oblique' is reintroduced in this plan due to the value of coordination and oblique activation, which sets a valuable flow for the subsequent exercises. The students then move into 'Développé à la seconde', focusing on alignment and stacking the hips, with the previous exercise involving obliques playing an important role.
Next, the focus shifts to upper back training as students explore 'Arabesque Strength' and 'Scissor Derrière' exercises. The glutes remain active to relieve any pressure from the lower back. Encouraging the rib cage to remain relaxed is paramount in all PBT exercises.
Towards the end of the class, students delve into 'Small Ball Activation', which activates the adductors, core, and back muscles, preparing them for the dynamic movement of 'Grand Battement & Allegro'. Just like in a regular ballet class, allegro is practiced when the body is warm, with the glutes, hamstrings, and intrinsic feet assisting the force of this dynamic movement.
The class concludes as usual with a combination of release and stretching movements.
