Mini Loop Band

Mini Loop Band

Welcome to Focus Class 4 guided by Jenna Roberts. This class is designed to help dancers refine their technique and enhance their performance through targeted strengthening exercises. Although this class will activate the entire body, we will be focusing particularly on developing the awareness, precision and dynamism required for allegro.

To train turnout, we will begin with Adductor Resistance Stretch: an exercise that uses the mini loop band to activate the deep rotators, abductors, and adductors. The resistance from the band encourages dynamic stability in the pelvis while promoting

balanced muscular engagement through the inner and outer thighs. This foundation supports safe and efficient turnout articulation.

In High Scissors Extension, dancers will work on their alignment in arabesque, focusing on maintaining the length in the back and pulling up out of the supporting side. This is a great exercise for training square hips and shoulders. Please remind the dancer not to compromise the placement of their shoulders or hips in their effort to increase the height of the leg.

Featured exercises like Coupé Fouetté Raccourci Sauté and Power Jump are excellent for correcting the dancer’s form and technique prior to attempting the step in the centre. In addition to teaching coordination, these exercises deepen the dancer’s awareness of key muscle groups, helping reduce the risk of injury.

Tips

Control is key — Start slowly, especially in jumping exercises to ensure correct execution.

Promote core activation — even though we are focusing on allegro, core strength is needed to support the movement.

Remind dancers not to force their turnout — especially against the wall.
