Welcome to Class 10 with the wonderful Jenna Roberts, where we continue refining strength, balance, and control through advanced exercises!
This session builds on previous classes, further challenging core stability, alignment, and external rotation. Leg Switches strengthen the core while improving coordination, while Scissors with Bands use wrapping techniques to enhance proprioception and refine external rotation. Alignment Extension progresses previous alignment exercises by adding more complexity—dancers will work on balance, control of the standing leg, and coordinating port de bras. The class also includes Advanced À la Seconde, pushing leg control further, and continues to refine Batterie and stamina work. The session finishes with an Arabesque Stretch and a Warm Down and Stretch to support flexibility and recovery.
Teaching Tips:
In Leg Switches, remind dancers to move their legs only as far as they can maintain core control—quality over quantity.
Before and after Scissors with Bands, have dancers try a fifth position to feel how the exercise improves their external rotation and wrapping activation.
If Alignment Extension feels too challenging, encourage dancers to practise it at the barre for additional support.
Reinforce the importance of a full warm-down to release tension and maintain flexibility after the demands of class.
