This senior class offers a comprehensive approach, covering key techniques to enhance the dance journey. We suggest students complete this class at least twice before moving on to the next. Although the video runs for 33 minutes, plan for about 40 to 50 minutes so you have enough time to repeat any exercises if needed.
The class begins with a calming warm-up that gets both mind and body ready. Students will feel those turnout muscles working during the "Fusion Ball Rotation" exercise. Next, students will delve into the graceful shapes of the Port de Bras, where postural awareness truly brings the movements to life. With "Épaulement with Balance," students practice balance and weight transfer, both in parallel and external rotations, while learning the importance of épaulement – the specific alignment of the head, shoulders, and body.
"Small Twist Activation" fine-tunes pelvic alignment and the external rotators, leading into the "Wing Control" exercise. Here, students roll into a prone position to engage the shoulder girdle, achieving the desired "flat back" look essential in ballet training. "Développé Devant Activation" focuses on perfect alignment and pelvic control, rather than just the height of the leg. As the class winds down and students are thoroughly warmed up, they tackle the energetic "Core with Beating," engaging both adductors and core muscles. Finally, they enjoy a relaxing "Cool Down" to wrap up the session.
